We invite you to explore The Ninth Annual Chancellor’s Faculty Entrepreneurship Workshop, a two and half day workshop titled The Entrepreneurial Mindset—Maximizing Faculty Impact. This seminar gives university faculty the skills used by successful entrepreneurs. Hosted by Innovate Carolina, the participating faculty will be guided by a team of entrepreneurship educators from across the UNC campus, including the College’s entrepreneurship minor, the School of Education, and Kenan-Flagler business school. Originally created by Chancellor Holden Thorp in 2009, this workshop now has over 200 alums, and several successful ventures have emerged from past participants.
The goal of the seminar is to bring together faculty who have a challenging problem, or an innovative solution, and give them the tools to move to the next level and begin to solve their problem and implement their idea. Faculty members will work in teams to apply these tools to real-world projects proposed by participants. Ample time will be provided for each team to apply the lessons learned in the workshop to the project they are working on. The three days together will end with each group having the opportunity to “pitch” their project to a panel of expert judges.
