Tim Flood:


Tim Flood is an Associate Professor of Management and Corporate Communication at UNC Chapel Hill. He specializes in cross-cultural communication and teaches courses on global communication, as well as segments of the Communication, Leadership and Career Management series. He has consulted with the World Bank/IFC and Egyptian Institute of Directors on issues of corporate governance and educational outreach, and has led business study programs in Croatia, Egypt, India, Morocco, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.  Prior to joining UNC Kenan-Flagler, Flood worked as a solutions consultant for Vanguard Cellular Systems (now part of AT&T Wireless).

Buck Goldstein: 


Buck Goldstein is the University Entrepreneur in Residence and a Professor of the Practice in the Department of Economics.  Prior to returning to the University, Goldstein co-founded Information America, an online information company which was publicly traded and subsequently acquired by the Thomson Corporation. Subsequently, he was a partner in Mellon Ventures, the venture capital arm of Mellon Bank.  He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UNC and an honors graduate of the UNC Law School.

Keith Sawyer:

Dr. R. Keith Sawyer is the Morgan Distinguished Professor in Educational Innovations at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He is one of the country’s leading scientific experts on creativity. He studies creativity, innovation, and learning, with a focus on collaborating groups and teams. He uses qualitative and quantitative methods to examine the conversational dynamics of groups in real-world contexts – whether business meetings, classrooms, or informal learning environments.

Deborah Stroman:

Dr. Stroman is the director of sport entrepreneurship and community engagement at the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise. First invited to the Chancellor’s Workshop in 2012 by Chancellor Thorp, she has been an instructor and mentor to faculty across campus. Dr. Stroman has more than three decades of business, entrepreneurship, and athletic industry experience. She is also a faculty member in the Organizational Behavior department at the Kenan-Flagler Business School.  Her teaching and research interests include entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, and social issues in sport. Dr. Stroman has more than three decades of business, entrepreneurship and athletic industry experience. Prior to joining UNC, she owned a sport marketing and event planning company and had a 17-year career in financial services. Currently, her LASER™ company assists former professional athletes through the transition from their sporting careers to valued careers, business ownership and/or completion of academic degrees.

Scott Maitland 


Scott is a military veteran, serial entrepreneur, Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at UNC-Chapel Hill and a firm believer that craft breweries and distilleries are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.  Scott is currently the Proprietor of Top of the Hill Distillery – makers of TOPO Vodka, Gin and Whiskey – and currently the only exclusively organic and all-local distillery in the South.   TOPO Vodka recently received a five star rating from F. Paul Pacult’s Spirits Journal and all of the spirits have won gold medals at major competitions.  While in law school twenty years ago, Scott founded his first venture -Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery- to prevent a T.G. I. Friday’s from dominating the main intersection of Chapel Hill.  Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery has won over 40 “Best Of” awards in the Triangle, is the largest bar in the state of North Carolina and is one of only three breweries in the world with two platinum medals from the World Beer Championships.
